For most players, completing the main story in Pokemon Legends: Arceus will take somewhere between 25 and 30 hours. Just because the credits have already rolled, however, that doesn’t mean that there aren’t still plenty of things left for players to see and do. In fact, much like previous pokemon games, completing the game’s main story will likely prove to be just the beginning of most players’ adventures in Hisui.
When it comes to post-game content in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, players can expect to sink another 20 to 70 hours into the game depending on how thorough they choose to be. Most will probably choose to focus on one or two things such as catching Legendary Pokemon or completing requests. Some, however, will no doubt endeavor to 100% complete the game by tackling all of the tasks listed down below.
Complete the Remaining Story Missions
When the credits finally roll, players will have completed 20 missions in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. What they’ll soon realize, however, is that the game actually features 28 story missions in total. The remaining eight are centered around catching powerful Legendary Pokemon and finally encountering the star of the show, Arceus. It’s a little reminiscent of the Delta Episode content from Omega-Ruby & Alpha Sapphire in that respect, and offers up a very compelling reason to continue playing a little longer.
Re-Challenge the Eight Main Bosses
Once players have completed the main story, they’ll be able to return to each of the five Noble Pokemon and challenge them once again. After completing the game’s 28th mission, they’ll then gain the ability to re-challenge Dialga, Palkia, and Arceus as well. Just like re-challenging gym leaders and the Elite Four in earlier pokemon games, all eight enemies will be tougher the second time around. It’s arguably worth the effort though, as players can earn some pretty useful rewards by overcoming these new challenges.
Catch Every Mythical and Legendary Pokemon
For many, one of the most enjoyable things about playing a pokemon game is being able to catch rare and powerful Pokemon. Pokemon Legends: Arceus certainly has these people covered, with 18 Mythical and Legendary Pokemon available throughout the game. Players will only obtain two of these during the main story, however, meaning that the other 16 will have to be caught during the post-game. To catch them all, players will actually need to have played a couple of the other recent pokemon games as well, with quests for Darkrai and Shaymin only unlocking for those with Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl and Sword & Shield save data on their Switch.
Complete All 94 Requests
Rather than side missions, Pokemon Legends: Arceus feature requests. They’re effectively the same thing though, with NPCs asking players to complete a variety of tasks on their behalf. These usually entail finding a particular Pokemon or tracking down a certain item, but there are one or two unique requests in the game as well. Collecting all 108 wisps is easily the most time-consuming of the bunch, with the little purple flames hidden in hard-to-reach places throughout each and every region of Hisui.
Complete the Pokedex
There are only 242 different Pokemon available in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, making its Pokedex one of the easiest to complete in years. What’s more, due to the way that new areas are typically locked behind the player’s Galaxy Team rank, most players will probably have caught the majority of these Pokemon by the time the end credits roll. Once all of the Legendary and Mythical Pokemon have been added to their total, finding the rest probably won’t take all that long. The reward for doing so is a Shiny Charm, which will come in handy for another of the pokemon series’ popular post-game pastimes.
Hunt for Shiny Pokemon
With the game allowing players to tell if a Pokemon is Shiny or not without actually needing to engage it in battle, Shiny hunting in Pokemon Legends: Arceus is a lot easier than it is in some of the earlier Pokemon games. What’s more, if players complete the Pokedex to unlock the Shiny Charm, the chances of finding a Shiny Pokemon will double. Increasing the research level of every Pokemon in the Pokedex to Research Level 10 or maxing them out entirely will also make Shiny spawns a lot more likely.
Complete Miscellaneous Tasks
As well as all of the above, there are a few other little bits and bobs that players can work towards if they’re desperate to get a little more mileage out of the game. These include getting the other two Starter Pokemon by speaking with the Professor in his lab, unlocking all of the additional satchel slots with the help of Bagin, collecting all 26 Unown variantsand unlocking each and every one of the game’s cosmetic items and crafting recipes. After that though, there really isn’t too much else to do, unless players really want to EV train their Pokemon gold acquire the perfect Natures for their team by farming and using Nature Mints.
